MISAMIS OCCINDENTAL (PIA)–The Province of Misamis Occidental has added another feather to its cap after winning another award from the National Nutrition Council (NNC) on Monday, March 20, as one of the top local government units (LGUs) with outstanding nutrition programs.

Misamis Occidental received the prestigious Nutrition Honor Award held at the Manila Hotel, Manila, the highest distinction given by the NNC to an LGU in recognition of its outstanding planning, management, and implementation of local nutrition programs.

“This is for God’s glory and honor. On behalf of the provincial government of Misamis Occidental, headed by Governor Henry S. Oaminal, I want to extend our sincere thank you to the National Nutrition Council for this recognition and to NNC-10 for being our guiding star,” said Marichu G. Tijing, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer.

Tijing said that Misamis Occidental is bumped with love and unity because it is a clear manifestation and realization that we’ve got one important resource, the resource of collaboration.

“A convergence towards achieving Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon, ug Malipayon. For a healthier Philippines, Asenso Misamis Occidental,” she added.

For his part, Gov. Henry Oaminal said, “We need to reciprocate, double our time, hard work, dedication, and sincerity in adhering to our guiding principles of good governance for the development of the entire province to improve the quality of life of all Misamisnons, along with the Asenso 5Ms-Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon.”

Misamis Occidental is the newest and 10th Nutrition Honor Awardee in northern Mindanao.

The NNC conducts the National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony every year to recognize and award high-performing LGUs and LNFPs.

The awardees undergo a series of evaluation activities to assess their performance by regional and national interagency evaluation teams. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
