LAGAYAN, Abra (PIA) — The local government unit (LGU) of Lagayan recently opened its Tourism and Exhibit Facility to serve as a one-stop-shop for tourism-related activities in the municipality.

The exhibit facility now displays the products, handicrafts and various souvenir items locally made in the municipality. It helps locals who are mostly unemployed and single parents by allowing them to exhibit and sell their own local products at the facility.

“Yong mga local products ng unemployed and solo parents and mostly na nakadisplay dito para mabigyan naming ng pagkakataon at matulongan narin narin naming sila,” Lagayan Tourism Officer Michelle Bersamira.

Once fully operational, the facility will become a service center for all visitors in the municipality, offering them various tour packages.

“Diyan na mangyayari lahat ng tourism-related services such as the main registration process and briefing at dito narin naka display lahat ng local products ng Lagayan which are mostly woven and handicraft items,” Bersamin said in an interview.

With popular destinations in the municipality such as the Lusuac Spring Resort, Ar-arbis Falls and some recently discovered Class 3 caves, the LGU envisions Lagayan to be the future tourism capital of Abra.

“Through the leadership of Mayor Edmarc Crisologo, we envision Lagayan to be the tourism capital of Abra in the years to come, so isa sa mga priority talaga ng LGU ay ang tourism industry. Sa Lusuac Spring Resort alone, kumikita kami ng P100,000 during the lenten season,” Bersamira said.

Around 1,000 to 2,000 local and foreign tourists visit the municipality of Lagayan monthly to enjoy the tourist destinations. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
