Biliran province is set to become the host of the La Routa 2023 adventure race taking place from November 20 to 24, 2023.
The race is organized in collaboration with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Eastern Visayas, Biliran provincial government, and Bukid Outdoor Shop.
According to Jason Garido, the organizer of La Routa, selecting Biliran as the venue for the international adventure race was a joint decision with the DOT-Eastern Visayas.
Biliran’s small size and secure environment make it an ideal location, ensuring the safety of participants even if they venture off course.
The province’s diverse terrain, ranging from mountains to hills, beautiful beaches, and waterfalls, offers an excellent setting for an adventure race.
By hosting the event, Biliran aims to establish itself as an adventure tourism destination in Eastern Visayas.
Garido emphasized that hosting the race will provide significant benefits to the province, attracting not only participants but also their supporters and spectators.
This influx of visitors is expected to boost the local economy by generating increased business activity for the community.
The event marks a continuation of Biliran’s history of hosting international adventure races, including the Elf Authentic Adventure Race in 1999.
With the upcoming La Routa 2023, Biliran is poised to showcase its natural beauty and attract adventure enthusiasts from around the world.
