The province of Bohol is actively pursuing stronger ties with South Korea, aiming to enhance collaboration across various sectors.

Governor Aris Aumentado engaged in discussions with Consul General Song Sewon, along with other South Korean officials, on bolstering relations in tourism, infrastructure, agriculture, investments, culture, and employment.

The meeting also explored the possibility of establishing a sisterhood agreement between Bohol and Jeju, both designated as UNESCO Global Geoparks, presenting an opportunity to exchange best practices in geopark management.

With South Korean tourists comprising the largest visitor group to Bohol, the province seeks to foster cross-cultural understanding and bolster the economic partnership between the two regions.

As a part of the province’s tourism promotion efforts, some Bohol local government officials visited South Korea in late 2022.

Following the trip, it was announced by the governor that about 10,000 South Koreans had plans to visit the province from late 2022 to early 2023.
