Batangas province in the Philippines is taking steps to help corn growers improve their productivity.

This is important because it will enable them to produce more corn, which can be used as animal feed for poultry and egg producers in the province.

During a recent session, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Batangas approved a resolution that allows the provincial government to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the yellow corn enhancement production program.

This MOU ensures that the corn produced by farmers who receive assistance from the Department of Agriculture (DA) will have a local market as poultry feed.

Batangas is a major consumer of chicken feed.

The MOU involves providing corn seeds and fertilizer to Batangas farmers to support their corn production for poultry farms and egg raisers in the province.

The Department of Agriculture Region 4-A (DA-4A) and various cooperatives are part of this memorandum.

By increasing corn production, the agricultural sector in Batangas will grow, leading to an improved local economy.

This is because there is a continuous demand for corn from poultry farms and egg raisers in the province, who rely on it as a crucial ingredient for their livelihoods.

Furthermore, the Department of Agriculture has highlighted that Batangas has a good opportunity to increase its corn production as many sugarcane planters have switched to growing corn.

This shift in crops presents a favorable environment for expanding corn cultivation in the province.
