On December 12, 2022, the Local Government of Valenzuela City held its 17th Special Children (SPED) Holiday at the Valenzuela City People’s Park Amphitheater. A total of 1,856 Learners with Disabilities (LWDs) gathered at the event together with their parents.

The local government conducted several activities for the attendees which aim to develop trust, self-confidence, personal and social skills, and desirable values among the attendees.

The annual Christmas and year-end event for the City’s Learners with Disabilities (LWDs) was again held by the City Government of Valenzuela and the Division of City Schools – Valenzuela, after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to promote teamwork, friendship, and understanding among Learners with Disabilities and parents, SPED teachers and therapists, city and school officials, and other SPED advocates.

During the activity, students and teachers from various schools in the Central, North, South, and East Districts join the Learners with Disabilities (LWDs) and their parents.

While it was the first SPED Holiday celebration since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Wes Gatchalian stated his excitement to host it. He also said that he invested a lot of time and money into this event so that the kids could enjoy it.

Mayoress Tiffany Gatchalian, Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, Congressman Rex Gatchalian, Superintendent of the Schools Division Dr. Meliton Zurbano, and District Supervisor and ValSPED Administrator Dr. Ma Teresita Pangan were also in attendance.
