The provincial government of Batangas is committed to helping farmers and fishermen connect with consumers through its community food market program.

Organized by the Batangas Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), the market showcases products from farmers’ and fishermen’s associations, as well as micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province.

Since February 2023, the market has been held six times, generating a total income of ₱712,000.

Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Rodrigo Bautista said that the food market will continue to bring the market closer to the compatriots while promoting Batangueño products and making them better known in other parts of the world.

He also expressed gratitude to Governor Hermilando “DoDo” Mandanas and others for their support.

The program, which initially launched in May 2022, will hold its next market on July 14 and 28, 2023.

The success of the market can be attributed to the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and the warm reception from consumers.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Batangas is ready to further develop the Community Food Market through the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Hub program.
