TANZA, Cavite: Tourists are expected to flock to the beaches and resorts here in Cavite throughout the dry and hot months.

In anticipation, the Cavite Provincial Tourism Office under Rozelle Sangalang, provincial tourism officer; Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Cavite under Lieutenant Commander Ailene Abanilla; and the local police under Col. Christopher Olazo, provincial director, Cavite Police Provincial Office (CPPO) joined forces to keep tourists safe.

In an interview, Sangalang said LGUs and local tourism offices in partnership with the PCG-Cavite are closely monitoring the beaches and resorts.

“The number of tourists going to beaches is increasing since summer started based on the record of each LGU and we are expecting this number to go even higher,” she said.

“The LGUs especially the tourism office, Local Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office, and local police offices of seven cities and 16 towns and their respective tourism establishments in partnership with the Provincial Government of Cavite, Philippine Coast Guard, and the Department of Tourism have long been preparing for this, and in fact, several Lifeguard Certification Training has been conducted since 2021 and have produced over a hundred certified lifeguards to ensure the safety and security of tourists and other water recreational facilities in Cavite,” she added.

While PCG-Cavite is ready, the training program for responders such as Water Search and Rescue Training and Lifeguard Qualification Training will continue.

“Currently, all our Coast Guard substations are on alert and we have a designated Malasakit Help Desk, particularly at our public beaches, to watch and monitor our beachgoers together with our volunteers from our partner Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron. Our PCG-K9 also randomly conducts paneling in selected resorts to ensure everyone’s safety,” Abanilla said.
