On Sunday, The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) turned over a newly improved road to the local government of Jaro, Leyte.

The road is part of the Rural Agro-Enterprise Partnership for Inclusive Development and Growth (RAPID Growth) project, which is funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development.

The road is the first foreign-funded farm-to-market road (FMR) under the RAPID Growth and is expected to benefit 833 coconut farmers and 2,412 families in seven villages in Jaro town.

The road rehabilitation project was prioritized because it is expected to boost the coconut industry in the area.

The improved road will make it easier for farmers to transport their coconuts to market, which will increase their income.

Furthermore, the road will also benefit farmers who grow other crops, such as bananas, cacao, high-value vegetables, cassava, and corn.

The RAPID Growth project aims to help agriculture-based processing enterprises and entrepreneurial communities become more innovative, productive, and competitive.

The improved road in Jaro, Leyte is a major step forward in the RAPID Growth project which will help to improve the lives of farmers and their families, as well as boost the local economy.
