CALAUAN, Laguna: Calauan held a colorful parade on May 10, 2023 to kick off its annual Pinya (Pineapple) Festival as a thanksgiving to its patron saint, San Isidro de Labrador, for the bountiful harvest in the area this year.

The festival’s theme is “Magsaya sa Bagong Calauan, Makiisa: Bangon Calauan.”

Mayor Roseller Caratihan led the kickoff inside a covered court.

The festival will last until May 15 with a ‘Pinya Indak, Sayaw Calaueño” street dancing and parade.

A thanksgiving Mass at the parish of San Isidro in Barangay Poblacion ushered in the opening of the Pinya Festival.

On Wednesday, May 10, outstanding local residents were honored and a doll-making contest, a PWD talent show and a Mr. And Mrs. Calauan fashion show were also held.

A That’s My Lolo, That’s My Lola contest took place on Thursday.

For Friday, May 12, on tap are Zumba for All, Pinakamasarap Cooking Contest, Agri-Eco tourism and trade fair, fun run for a cause and PinyakaDyosa 2023 grand coronation.

An Agrilympics, job fair and Mr. and Mrs. Calauan coronation night at the municipal park will highlight the festival on May 13.

On May 15, a farmers seminar, motor and cars show, Calaueño night and fireworks display will cap the festival.
