On June 19, 2023, Meycauayan City, Bulacan, marked the 162nd birthday of national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal, unveiling a new monument and the inauguration of Tanghalang Meycaueño at the city hall.

Led by local government officials, the seven-foot Rizal monument stands proudly outside the new city hall grounds along the McArthur Highway, showcasing Meycauayan’s pride in hosting the first sculpture by sculptor Fred Caedo in the city.

Fred Caedo, the grandson of sculptor Anastacio Caedo, comes from a prestigious artistic lineage. Anastacio Caedo is renowned for creating several iconic sculptures, such as the MacArthur Landing site in Leyte, the monument of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. in Makati City, the Bonifacio Monument in Balintawak, as well as numerous bust figures and monuments of Rizal.

The purpose of Rizal’s monument in the city was to instill inspiration among Meycaueños, emphasizing that everyone has the potential to contribute to the nation using their unique abilities.

Additionally, the city government inaugurated Tanghalang Meycaueño, a dedicated venue for performing arts that seeks to showcase and nurture the talents within the city.

These initiatives contribute to the cultural enrichment and development of Meycauayan, creating opportunities for artistic expression and community engagement.
