The MIRNP serves as a vital water source for nearby communities and plays a crucial role as the last remaining and largest rainforest dominated by dipterocarp species in Lanao del Norte.

It also harbors a diverse range of flora and fauna, including endangered and vulnerable species
like Pinksker’s hawk-eagle, Philippine eagle, and Magkono trees, among others.

Theresa Mundita Lim, the Executive Director of the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity, warmly welcomed the addition of MIRNP to the expanding network of ASEAN heritage parks.
