Northern Mindanao celebrated National Innovation Day with a three-day program and exhibition aimed at showcasing the region’s innovation ecosystem and recognizing regional innovation champions.
The event was held at SM City CDO Uptown from April 20 to 22, 2023, and brought together experts and innovative leaders from across the region.
The Northern Mindanao Regional Innovation Program and Exhibit 2023 were anchored on the theme “Strengthening the Innovation Ecosystem in Region X.”
The event aimed to foster curiosity, creativity, and agility among Filipinos, especially the youth, while helping experts and innovative leaders in Northern Mindanao establish a network of innovators and forge an industry-academe-government-financiers collaboration.
Neda-Northern Mindanao Director Mylah Faye Aurora Cariño noted that the region ranked second in the country in terms of the number of technologies commercialized through the Fairness Opinion Board of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
This highlights the vibrant innovation system in Northern Mindanao, which prompted DOST-Northern Mindanao OIC Regional Director Romela Ratilla to focus the event on three thematic areas: innovation impact, interactive experience, and investment opportunities.
The event attracted many businesses, micro and small enterprises, and startups who collaborated with organizers to find expansion opportunities and penetrate the export market.
