Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte has urged the nation to prioritize a work culture that values better wages and workers’ mental health among others in celebration of Labor Day.

Duterte emphasized the importance of promoting a work culture that supports individual growth, recognizes the evolving demands of global work responsibilities, and advocates for the emergence of decent and quality jobs.

The Vice President acknowledged that the government is working towards improving labor conditions, providing training and upskilling opportunities, and enhancing the employability of the Filipino workforce. 

She also called for the implementation of safer and healthier working spaces, gender-responsive policies, creative strategies to support working mothers, single parents, and working students, better career growth opportunities, and personal work fulfillment for all Filipinos.

Duterte also emphasized that the progress and success of the Filipino workforce are crucial foundations of nation-building, which contribute to the betterment of the economy as well as the importance of honing learners to be future-ready and attract more quality and decent jobs. 

The Vice President’s call for a work culture that prioritizes better wages and workers’ mental health highlights the importance of supporting the Filipino workforce’s overall well-being.
