Mayor Joy Belmonte led the launching of ‘Alagang QC’ on August 30, 2022, a program that grants its beneficiaries a financial assistance of up to P4,000 or P500 each week for a maximum of eight (8) weeks.

Qualified recipients of the aforementioned financial assistance include QCitizens who were repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and displaced workers who have been looking for new employment for the last six months before their application.

Moreover, Mayor Belmonte emphasized the significance of labor as the primary engine of the economy and paved the path for economic rehabilitation and recovery in this project, which is a first of its type in the nation.

A total of 50 beneficiaries consisting of displaced workers from Colegio de San Lorenzo and repatriated OFWs were the first batch who were able to get assistance from the program.

This initiative is timely and will surely serve as a huge help for QCitizens, especially for displaced workers due to the pandemic. This also acts as an example of a relevant program for Filipinos as the country faces several crises including unemployment.
